CXO Portals 1st Birthday!
🎂 💙 💛 Today is CXO Portals first birthday!!
This has not been an easy year for myself and Glenn Hapgood, in fact it’s been the toughest year of our professional careers. Working most weekends, laptops taken on weekends away, working late or well into the early hours, then up again early to start the day and lunch breaks – what are those?!
9 out of 10 start-ups fail, 7.5 out of 10 ventures back out before they’ve begun. 2 out of 10 businesses fail in the first year. Only 10% of start-ups become unicorn firms like Uber, Airbnb and Slack and the success percentage for first-time Founders is only 18%.
On occasions it’s been tough but as a small team we’ve conquered a lot. The team is loyal, working long hours and we simply wouldn’t be where we are without their attitude and work ethic. Thank you Jay Barter, Roberta Walbank, Philippe Ashwell and Scott Raven.
Huge thank you’s to our Advisory Board who genuinely are ALL diamonds, to our Partners, as they’d be no events without your support and of course to our attendees who give up their time, join our events, share, network and provide such value.
Thank you to those who helped us create our first birthday card with your honesty. Reading these has made the lack of sleep wholly worth it!

😢 We’ve also failed 2 events. One postponed and one went ahead but both, as per our ethics are being rerun as we never want to underdeliver for our clients.

We’ve learnt a lot through our mistakes, but our messaging has never changed ‘ integrity is at the heart of everything we do’.
The team will all meet soon in person to celebrate but today we’ve celebrated in true virtual style.
It’s been one hell of a ride and here’s hopefully to our Unicorn 🦄
